What is LiveJustice?
LiveJustice is a project of Legal Assistance
Corporation of Central Massachusetts (LACCM). LACCM provides civil legal
services (non-criminal) to low-income and elderly households in Worcester
County. Established more than 40 years ago, LACCM’s mission is to
protect and advance the rights of low-income and elderly people. LACCM
helps clients meet their basic needs and achieve social and economic
justice. LACCM receives funds from local, state, federal, and private
charitable resources. The goal of this Web site is to
provide tenants with better access to legal information and support and to
enable tenants to keep their tenancies and improve their living
conditions.
You may use LiveJustice to:
• Ask
an attorney or paralegal about your housing problem
• Search for information on your own
Currently, LiveJustice is only able to help with
landlord/tenant and housing questions, and is available only to residents of Massachusetts.

Is the conversation confidential?
Yes. Private communications between clients and
legal advocates are confidential. Strict ethical guidelines
prevent LACCM attorneys, paralegals, and support staff from disclosing the
information you give us to anyone not affiliated with LACCM. The attorney-client
privilege protects the confidentiality of communications between lawyers and
their clients, and information collected through this program will be treated
the same as if you met with a lawyer in person. For more information, see our
privacy
policy. Talk

What information will I need to give you?
In order to ask an advocate about your legal
problem, you will need to provide some personal information. The advocate will
need your name, your address, your date of birth, your Social Security number,
the name of the opposing party, the number of people in your household, and some
basic information about your income. This information is confidential. We will
not use this information for any reason other than to provide you with help. Talk
to a legal advocate now.

Why do I need to give this information?
We need this information for two reasons. First, Legal Assistance
Corporation of Central Massachusetts (LACCM) can serve only low-income and
elderly residents of Massachusetts. We need to ensure
that you meet the income and residence requirements to get assistance from
LACCM. We use your income and residence information solely for the purpose
of checking eligibility. We do not sell or trade this information.
Second, lawyers are generally not allowed to represent both you and a
client whose interests may oppose your interests. Therefore, before
taking your case, we must check that LACCM does not already
represent another party who has interests that conflict with yours, either
in your case or another case. Because your Social Security Number is the
only way to uniquely identify you, it is important that you provide it to
us so that we can conduct the conflict check. Your date of birth is also
necessary to determine if there is a conflict. This information will be held in strict
confidence. We do not sell or trade this information.
When you submit information to LACCM using the Live Help intake form,
steps are taken to prevent anyone from getting your information. The information is encrypted by Secure
Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. This means that the information is
translated into unreadable code before it is submitted to LACCM and then decoded by
LACCM. LACCM will not sell or provide this information to anyone else for
any other purpose.
