Example: I have lived in my apartment for 2 years. My rent is $700 a month. There are many problems. The hot water doesn't always work, the lock on the door is broken, and the bathroom ceiling has a leak. I've asked the landlord many times to fix it, but he won't do anything. I finally called the board of health in March. The board of health documented the problems and sent a report to the landlord. The landlord still did not fix anything, so I withheld part of my April rent. In May, the landlord sent me an eviction notice for nonpayment of rent. I owe $300. What should I do?
4. A lawyer will get back to you as soon as possible.
